Paul has built an interesting career across military, Police service, academia, business, and public service. His breadth of experience spans leadership, policy, and direct intervention in some of the most challenging and high-stakes environments.
He began his career in the British Army, serving with 7 Para RHA, part of the Airborne Forces, which specialise in rapid deployment and high-readiness operations. His military background instilled a strong sense of discipline, resilience, and strategic thinking—qualities that have shaped his leadership in every role since.
After leaving the military, Paul transitioned into academia, completing his Masters Degree and becoming a Senior Lecturer at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, Poland, one of the country's leading institutions. His work in higher education focused on communication, analytical thinking, and research, skills that have later become invaluable in both his private business and public service.
Recognising the need for proactive community solutions, Paul established the Croydon Auto & Bike Scheme (CABS) in 1996, (Part of the Croydon Youth Development Trust), a crime diversion project designed to steer young people away from criminal activity by engaging them in practical, skills-based training. Croydon has one of the highest numbers of youth crime incidents in London, making preventative initiatives like CABS critical in reducing reoffending and improving life outcomes for at-risk youth. The programme remains active today, providing young people with vocational training and mentorship.
Paul went on to serve in the Police, where he qualified as a detective sergeant, leading investigations into serious crime. His work in policing covered areas such as serious crime, safeguarding, high-tech crime and intelligence-led policing. His work focused on tackling criminal activity through both enforcement and preventative strategies.
Alongside his frontline experience, Paul pursued further study, obtaining a PhD in Psychology in the USA. His academic expertise not only deepens his understanding of behaviour, decision-making, and the psychological drivers behind criminality and vulnerability but also provides him with the empathy, experience and perspective needed to develop strategies that recognise the complexities of individual needs, particularly for those with additional needs and neurodevelopmental differences
Currently, Paul is a West Sussex County Councillor, representing Bramber Castle Division, where he plays an active role in local governance. Until November 2024, he served as Chairman of the Children and Young People's Services Scrutiny Committee (CYPSSC). Paul led the committee in its role of holding the Executive to account by reviewing and influencing policies related to education, safeguarding, and social care. The committee's purpose is to scrutinise proposed decisions, monitor service performance, and ensure that the needs and welfare of children and young people in West Sussex are effectively addressed. He remains active in CYPSSC today.
Beyond public service, Paul is an owner, CTO, and partner in a SaaS technology company operating in Florida and Arizona, but which services over 20 million clients across the whole of the USA and Canada, bringing his leadership experience to the private sector. He also volunteers weekly as a practice manager for a UK based psychology service working exclusively with children and young people with additional needs, reinforcing his long-standing commitment to education, mental health, and specialist support services.
Paul’s decision to enter politics is driven by a commitment to accountability, common-sense governance, and the protection of individual freedoms. He believes in policies that prioritise efficiency in public services, fairness in decision-making, and transparency in government. His approach is rooted in the principles of personal responsibility, and ensuring that policies serve the interests of hardworking people. He advocates for a robust justice system, a strong national identity, and practical, evidence-based solutions to societal challenges.
Whether addressing community safety, economic growth, infrastructure, education, or public services, Paul’s work is guided by the belief that government must be effective, responsive, and accountable to the people it serves. He champions policies that cut through bureaucracy, empower local communities, and uphold the rights and freedoms of individuals.
Paul recognises that a strong economy underpins a prosperous society. He supports policies that encourage business growth, reduce unnecessary financial burdens, and ensure public funds are spent efficiently. Well-managed public services should be properly funded, effective, and free from excessive bureaucracy so that resources are directed where they have the greatest impact.
Infrastructure plays a crucial role in economic stability and quality of life. Investment in transport, housing, energy, and digital connectivity is essential to creating thriving communities with reliable services and opportunities for growth.
Public safety is another priority. A well-resourced justice system and effective policing are fundamental to maintaining law and order. Paul believes in a proactive approach to crime prevention.
His focus is on fostering a society that values hard work, delivers efficient public services, and upholds strong leadership in decision-making. Transparency, accountability, and practical solutions are at the core of his approach to governance.
